Connections in Christ

God is Love (1 John 4:8, 16). God has a detailed master plan for each of His unique children (Ephesians 2:10). That plan includes a calling or purpose and connections to specific persons in specific places. Sadly, some Christians remain babes in Christ (1 Corinthians 3:1, 1 Peter 2:2) and never find God's plan for their lives. Before He made the world, God called each follower of Christ to be a specific member of the body of Christ (2 Timothy 1:8-9 KJV). There is a place in the Son for you. In the family of God, we form Christian habits and grow in Christ until we are equipped to help and bless others. "Iron by iron is sharpened. And a man sharpens the face of his friend" (Proverbs 27:17 YLT). Beware of people "having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof" (2 Timothy 3:5 KJV). The power is in the blood of Jesus, the name of Jesus, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, in living in Jesus and in the unity of Christ's followers (Matthew 18:19). Jesus asked the Father to unite His followers: " ... that they may be one just as We are one" (John 17:22 NKJV). When God places each Christian into a specific team within the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit helps that team to accomplish its mission to the glory of God. "Under his (Christ's) direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, and each part in its own special way helps the other parts, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love" (Ephesians 4:16 TLB, emphasis added).

Jonathan and David had a covenant connection in Christ which may have saved David's life (1 Samuel Chapters 18-20). After Jonathan's death, David found Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth, and restored to him all of his family's land and made Mephibosheth a continual guest at King David's table (2 Samuel Chapter 9).

Ask God to establish your connections with other followers of Christ. Praise God for each connection that He makes, pray for your friend, and be as faithful a friend as David and Jonathan were to each other.
