Christmas Prayers

Christmas is a time to remember and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let's keep in mind the reason for the season and give to the Lord the place in our hearts that He deserves.

Hopefully, pleasant times with friends and family during the Christmas season will long remain in our minds and hearts as fond memories. Yet the events of past Christmases bring memories darkened by tragedy to the minds of many persons. I submit to you that God is love (1 John 4:8, 16), and God hears our prayers (Hebrews 4:16). Most of us pray much less than we should, and probably pray least of all during the busy Christmas season. Yet there should be no doubt that the approach of the Christmas season is a most opportune  time for earnest prayer. Why? Because we see friends and loved ones whom we haven't seen for some time; and in an atmosphere of fellowship, goodwill, and togetherness, we can hope for forgiveness, reconciliation, an openness to wise counsel, and bonding within a family. Your love can cover a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8 NIV). Because you are "prayed up," the Holy Spirit will help you to encourage and turn around that depressed person who was contemplating suicide.
